QR's fifty 2800 class Goninan-GE locomotives, fitted with 3000 horsepower 7FDL12 engines, power most of the freight trains on the Brisbane-Cairns and Townsville-Mt.Isa main lines.

Mt.Isa-Townsville freight train 6291 passes Thalanga behind 2111D. Built by Clyde in 1971, 2111D was the first Queensland Rail locomotive to be fitted with Locotrol command equipment.
